Nature

The villa of Briones placed in a terrace on the right margen of the river Ebro, to 35 kilometres to NE of Logroño, on a hill of 80 meters of altitude on the river from which there control themselves the fertile lands watered by the Ebro with the Saw of Cantabria as backdrop. The old town walled of Briones makes elongated sense of north on south, with three longitudinal streets and several cross streets, more the central square (to 501 m. Of altitude).

One agrees the whole term in the interfluvio that the Pull and the Najerilla leave. The lands are tertiary red and yellow clays and they would constitute a wide landing, lightly inclined towards the Ebro, of not having being deepened by the creeks Zamaca and Valpierre. Briones is a place favoured by his situation near to the banks of the Ebro, in one of the meanders that begins in Briñas and that they continue to lo10 length of the whole La Rioja. This situation allows him to have areas of coppice in Valpierre and come up to the gardens of the Ebro in a succession only interrupted by the road links.

His jurisdiction has 38 Km2 of areas of good quality, formed by clayey and white lands in the most pronounced hillsides. The clayey areas contrast with zones of sandy rock that gave part of the material for the construction of his walls and singular buildings. The arcillo-calcareous area that constitutes the hill on which one agrees the villa, allowed to realize caves where they elaborated and to preserve the wine quite with orientation in the northern part.

The most prominent heights are situated in the southern part for Valpierre's sales (more than 600 meters of altitude) and in Mendiguerra, in the limit of Gimileo and Ollauri.

These areas lightly wavy, of steep hillsides and coppice they give at the conclusion of great hunting richness emphasizing the partridge and the quail between the favorite pieces of the local estate.

Inside the term diverse itineraries of hiking can be realized, as that of the proximities of the Ebro, which happens for the mill and San Andrés's hermitages and Holy Shiny, returning to the village for the way of the Calvary.

Another way of interest is the glen of Santo Domingo, that going out of the village goes for Mendiguerra's term (the nearby hermitage of the Martyrs be visited), and the Sands and crosses the creek almost always I dry of Areluz to enter Gimileo's jurisdiction.

Another excursion adapted for the summer is the Hermitage of the Concepcion, which is a former glen that was leading the flock to Valpierre.

Across these ways we will know a tremendously humanized landscape, since up to the hillsides most straightened as those of Réndime's Source, in San Asensio's way to Briones, they are populated of vineyards.
